Maserati Turns 90 And Extends Its Product Range

September 22, 2004 Paris

MC12

Maserati has lots to celebrate this year: its 90th anniversary, its victorious return to racing and the launch of four new models.

On Sunday 19 September, at 2:15pm, Mika Salo and Andrea Bertolini’s Maserati MC12 crossed the finishing line ahead of the entire field at the International FIA GT Championship at Oschersleben. After a quarter of a century, Maserati has made a comeback to the place of its birth: the tough, exciting world of racing. Just 15 days before the 25 sports-approved Maserati MC12s were presented to the FIA inspectors, proof positive of the marque’s commitment to this thrilling new adventure.

The MC12 is just one of the Trident models whose names will be forever linked to the year 2004, the others being the Quattroporte and the GranSport.

The Spyder and the Coupé have also been given radical overhauls for the new model year version in yet another demonstration of the Company’s commitment to its consolidation program.

Maserati also celebrated its 90th anniversary with a spectacular event that took place in Milan, Modena, Mugello and Rome.

At the end of the event, the Trident clients and their cars lined up in front of the Coliseum in Rome where they were greeted by Maserati’s CEO, Martin Leach, who declared: “We’ve had 90 years of great emotions and a year that has seen the launch of four new products. Just today Maserati made its return to competition victory with the MC12. A wonderful gift which gives us even greater impetus to look forward and plan how we’re going to celebrate Maserati’s 100th birthday!”

To mark this great occasion, the Trident is also unveiling the new 90th Anniversary Spyder at the Paris Motor Show: a limited edition of the Spyder in the new Anniversary Blue livery.

Paris is the first international show at which the Model Year 2005 versions of the Coupé and Spyder will be unveiled. Both differ significantly in terms of shape and technical content from last year’s models, and are certain to be reference points in their market segment.

The GranSport, whose first left hand drive examples were delivered just a few days ago, has also been greeted very warmly by Maserati’s younger, sportier clients, real Trident enthusiasts who demand an even more aggressive look and sound, not to mention an even more stunning performance.

The Quattroporte reached European Maserati showrooms last spring. It proved to be a huge success since its unveiling and has won a host of important awards for both its styling and engineering. The flagship is the jewel in the Maserati crown and is proving so popular that most countries have clients waiting 8-12 months for delivery.
