Photos -- 2002 Spyder

I absolutely, truly and endearingly love my new Spyder. It's everything I thought it would be and more. It's the perfect car for me because I like to be somewhat subtle and yet I really enjoy fine Italian machinery. Ferrari's are just a little flashy for this part of the country (St. Louis) and you get too many hateful looks from the non-appreciative. This car is the perfect blend of what I love in machinery and yet it's not so stand-outish that most people don't notice it. I did come out of the supermarket and a 40-ish man was standing next to it wondering what it was and he was struck with the beauty of the car. He had that look.... You know the one. The look of a new Jag or Lexus SC430 owner that just got deflated.

I purchased the Cambiocorsa transmission and it's much improved from the one I had in my 355. Much smoother and more natural. The engine in the Spyder is truly a work of art. I wonder though, why Maserati muted the exhaust so much. It makes such glorious sounds but you can't really hear it because the exhaust is so quiet. Maybe it will open up a little once it's broken in though I don't think they use any packing in the mufflers anymore. I'll write a complete update in a few weeks and include some pictures. I've found a new friend and we are going to become very close!

I Love my new car!

Mr. Giorgetto Giugiaro and Fabrizio Giugiaro pose with one of their latest creations, the new Spyder. These three shots were not used in VCM 82, however, we thought you would enjoy seeing them. They were taken exclusively for MCI for use in VCM. many thanks to Italdesign-Giugiaro for thinking of their fans.

Fabrizio in the Spyder and Giorgetto standing next to the 3200 GT. Note all the tire marks on the pavement. I wonder how those marks got there. . . could it be Fabrizio spinning 360s?
