A beautiful example of the designer Giorgetto Giugiaro's masterpiece that he designed for Ghia. Maserati so loved the cars design that they debuted it at the Turin Motor Show in 1966 to much fanfare. Elvis Presley owned one, Lucille Ball owned a Spyder and the Shah of Iran had a Gold one. The car is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful production sports cars ever made. The Museum of Modern Art in New York City has one in its collection.
This car is powered by a dry-sump, twin-cam 4.7 liter 287 cubic inch V-8 engine. The engine breaths through four -two four barrel Weber carburetors producing 310 horsepower and has a ZF five speed manual transmission. This car comes with power steering and has late style 15†Borrani pressed steel center and alloy rims. This Ghibli is red on color with black leather interior. The interior is the original leather and carpet except for the two seats.
The car was taken care of by master mechanic Jacque Laude for over thirty years. No one else worked on the vehicle during this time. When the vehicle was first purchased and had 50,000 miles on the speedometer Mr. Laude put in eight new cylinders and the valves on the engine. A letter attesting to him taking care of the vehicle is available and anyone may speak to him by phone if they desire. Many records of maintenance are still available but some were lost when moving from one residence to another. As an expert on these vehicles he rates the car as in very good condition by todays standards.
Not driven much in the last ten years the vehicle now has 100,000 on the speedometer. The engine runs very well and car functions in all capacities except for the turn signal switch which needs to be rebuilt. Great care has been taken to maintain this vehicle properly over the last thirty years. The vehicle is never driven unless the engine is warmed up for at least ten minutes.
This Maserati has an adjustable steering wheel, electric windows, reclining seats with head rests, heated rear windscreen, dashboard clock, and radio. Purchased in 1984 the vehicle has been garaged in Southern California ever since that time. The previous owner drove the vehicle between his residences in Las Vegas Nevada and Southern California.
