  • SPECIAL FEATURE: The Maserati GT Cars - From 1957 to 1986.
    A full-color time-line showing dates and photos of the Maserati GT cars is just the beginning of 34 pages of statistics and photographs. You will find information about the designer to the number of cars produced and all of the specifications and significant variations within each model: 3500 GT and GTI Coupe and Spyder, 5000 GT, Sebring, Mistral Coupe and Spyder, Quattroporte I, II, and III, Mexico, Ghibli Coupe and Spyder, Indy, Bora, Merak, Khamsin, and the Kyalami. You will also find beautiful photographs of the cars, inside and out, as well as comments from owners and leading magazines. Also included in this issue is a full-color foldout of all of the Maserati Grand Touring Cars.
  • FEATURE: Maserati Museums -- They Have Been Saved. An article found in the Italian publication Ruoteclassiche , December 1996 by Gianfranco Stefanelli. The 18 Maseratis that were to be auctioned at the International Auction that Brooks had scheduled have been brought back from England to Modena. They were saved by Umberto Panini, the former picture card industrialist, who allocated three billion lire (about 1.8 million dollars). A sad event with a happy ending.
  • FEATURE: Concours Italiano '98 and Maserati Days '98. Overview of the coming year's event. Two pages devoted to the full day's projected program at the 20th Annual Gathering of the Faithful on the Monterey Peninsula in Northern California. Includes the schedule, events, special guests and marque, and spectator information.
  • CONTRIBUTING EDITORS: "It's a Kind of Magic," by Berthard Ollmann of Essen Germany. ". . . if the Boomy could speak -- he could tell some story!. . ." You will enjoy this "love" story about a man and his Boomerang.
  • "So You Want to Show Your Car. . .And Drive It Too?" by Don Treadwell of Gilroy, California. No sniveling here, just facts.
  • "Coche Numero Quince -- Que Lastima!" by Ed and Nancy Mackey of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Saved from a near death, the Qporte III is in the capable hands of a true enthusiast.
  • MASERATI IN THE NEWS: Articles include:
    • "Giovanni Agnelli, Future Chairman of Fiat Group, Dies at 33," Italy went into mourning after the death of Giovanni Alberto Agnelli.
    • "The Best Car Name in the World," an excerpt from Thoroughbred & Classic Cars.
    • "Enduringly Different," Classic Cars Magazine rates the Biturbo.
    • "Maserati Faces the Future ­ The Ongoing Story," a few reports of the on-going strength of Maserati.

  • RETROSPECT: MIE Interview with Chief Engineer Bertocchi from 1978 when Maserati Club founder Francis Mandarano visited the Maserati Factory in Modena. A rare interview you are sure to enjoy.
  • REGIONAL NEWS: John Asmus, Regional Director, writes about the 15th Annual Maserati-Lamborghini Holiday Party.
  • INTERNATIONAL NEWS: Report from the Maserati Classic 1997 is featured. Many photos as well as a list of attendees and their cars. As always, the International Club Listing can be found on page 76.
  • NEWS & PEOPLE: Newest Enthusiast, baby Cameron Penn, Keith Martin, David Falossi, and visitors to MIE Headquarters Jeffery Lees and Robert Digennaro are featured. Richard Toplin, an enthusiast, passed away in December and a memorial is published in his honor. Also featured is Sergio Pininfarina, President of Pininfarina, from a presentation given at the Detroit Auto Show. Also: snippets of news, photos and anecdotes.
